The Beaver River Watershed Alliance will soon be accepting submissions for our 2016 calendar contest. This is a unique opportunity for students in K-12 within the Beaver River watershed to have their artwork published in a calendar. The theme for 2016 was, “What’s your favourite plant or animal in the Beaver River watershed?” Thank-you to the 110 students who submitted artwork for this contest. The calendar contest presents a great cross-curricular activity as students can be creative, while learning about the importance of wildlife biodiversity in the boreal ecosystems, as well as the many benefits that vegetation provides within our watershed. Last year, one of our winners from Vera M Welsh had a newspaper article featured in the Lac La Biche Post.
